Siemens and NVIDIA Deepen Partnership to Advance AI in Manufacturing
Brickinfo News Agency – Siemens and NVIDIA have announced an expanded collaboration aimed at accelerating the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalization within the manufacturing sector. This partnership seeks to enable the development of future factories by combining NVIDIA’s AI and accelerated computing capabilities with the Siemens Xcelerator platform. The collaboration is expected to lead to new industrial AI infrastructure leveraging NVIDIA’s accelerated computing, impacting factory floor operations.
The collaboration between Siemens and NVIDIA is designed to empower industrial companies with AI-driven technologies for advanced factory automation, from product design to execution. This integration will facilitate real-time, data-driven decision-making, improve operational efficiencies, and enhance collaboration across various stages of manufacturing.
Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, stated, “Our partnership with Siemens is bringing NVIDIA AI and accelerated computing to the world’s leading enterprises and opening new opportunities for the next wave of industrial AI.” Roland Busch, president and CEO of Siemens AG, added, “Together, Siemens and NVIDIA are now empowering companies across every industry to unlock the scaled impact of AI in the physical world.”
The partnership, initially established in 2022 to develop an industrial metaverse by connecting Siemens Xcelerator with the NVIDIA Omniverse platform, has since expanded to include generative AI, industrial AI, and robotics. Siemens has integrated NVIDIA technology throughout its Xcelerator platform, including the Teamcenter Digital Reality Viewer, which now features real-time ray-tracing for visualizing photorealistic digital twins. HD Hyundai, a shipbuilder, is utilizing this capability to manage millions of parts in real-time, reducing design iteration time significantly.
Furthermore, the integration of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs with Siemens’ Simcenter Star-CCM+ software is enhancing the speed of virtual product simulations. For instance, BMW Group and Siemens achieved a 30x speedup for transient aerodynamics simulations of vehicle geometries using Simcenter Star-CCM+ accelerated by NVIDIA Blackwell and NVIDIA CUDA-X libraries, leading to reduced energy consumption and costs. Siemens is also introducing a new line of Industrial PCs, certified for NVIDIA GPUs, designed for demanding industrial environments. These PCs can handle complex automation tasks, including AI-based robotics and predictive maintenance, delivering a 25x acceleration in AI execution.
The Siemens Industrial Copilot portfolio will feature advanced AI agents, with the Industrial Copilot for Operations optimized to run on-premises with NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs, aiming to save 30% of reactive maintenance time. In cybersecurity, Siemens is collaborating with NVIDIA to integrate NVIDIA BlueField DPUs for AI-driven operational technology cybersecurity, enhancing visibility and security in industrial systems.
