SCG Outlines Strategy to Boost ASEAN Industrial Competitiveness at Fortune Southeast Asia 500 Summit 2026
Brickinfo News Agency – SCG outlined its strategy to enhance the competitiveness of the ASEAN industrial sector at the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 Summit 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The company emphasized shifting from volume-driven growth to value creation by leveraging innovation, AI and Robotics, and improved operational efficiency while pursuing sustainable growth amid global economic challenges.
Thammasak Sethaudom, President and CEO of SCG, stated that boosting regional competitiveness requires transitioning to value creation through technology and productivity improvements. He noted that applying AI and Robotics must align with workforce development and sustainable practices under the Inclusive Green Growth approach. This requires collaboration across the supply chain, assisting SMEs in accessing innovation to collectively strengthen the regional industry.
This strategic direction aligns with SCG’s recent financial performance. For the first nine months of 2026, SCG reported an Adjusted Cash EBITDA of 57,357 MB, a 19% increase from the previous year, surpassing the full-year 2025 figure of 55,012 MB. The reported profit for 9M/2026 stood at 20,143 MB, achieved through business restructuring and cost management amid global volatility.

To further strengthen competitiveness, the Chemicals Business (SCGC) is implementing four key initiatives to prepare for the petrochemical industry’s recovery. These include adjusting product portfolios to increase High Value-Added (HVA) products, accelerating the ethane feedstock enhancement project at the Long Son Petrochemicals (LSP) complex in Vietnam to reduce costs by over US$250 million annually, managing investments by selling a 14.86% stake in PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk. (CAP), and combining the strengths of SCGC and GC in Thailand to boost global competitiveness in olefins and polyolefins.
Additionally, SCG is expanding its Low Carbon Cement business and consumer packaging operations across the region. At the summit, SCG was officially recognized for ranking No. 22 in the 2026 Fortune Southeast Asia 500 list, marking its third consecutive year in the ranking.
Kulachet Dharachandra, President and Country Director for Vietnam, also participated in the Ho Chi Minh City Investment Cooperation Forum. He emphasized driving economic growth alongside environmental stewardship, efficient resource use, and workforce development to build investor confidence and grow alongside local businesses.
