Brickinfo News Agency – Voice traffic surged by more than 600% in flood-hit areas across Thailand during late September 2026, according to network analysis released by True Corporation Public Company Limited. The operator’s dataset, tracked across mobile and fixed broadband networks during peak flood conditions on September 26, 2026, highlighted critical shifts in public communication patterns, led by immediate telephone calls for emergency response and a sharp increase in outbound data uploads.

The network metrics recorded significant voice call spikes across Greater Bangkok compared with the preceding week. Pathum Thani logged a 60% increase, Bangkok and Samut Prakan recorded 58% each, Nonthaburi grew 51%, and Chonburi registered a 29% rise. In heavily flooded residential zones, call volumes escalated further; the Rom Klao Housing Community recorded a 222% overall increase, while the Khlong Chan Housing Community rose by 169%. During the peak window between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on September 26, voice traffic climbed by 632% at Rom Klao and 311% at Khlong Chan, driven by direct coordination between families and emergency agencies.

Mobile data patterns showed upload traffic outpacing downloads in affected districts. Between September 25 and 26, average upload volumes at Rom Klao increased by 61% against a 4% rise in downloads, while Khlong Chan recorded a 44% upload increase versus 6% for downloads. Peak evening figures showed uploads rising 178% at Rom Klao (6:00–7:00 p.m.) and 94% at Khlong Chan (8:00–9:00 p.m.), reflecting residents transmitting photos, video updates, and real-time incident reports from ground level. Messaging applications also saw increased traffic, led by LINE with a 22% growth rate, followed by Messenger (13%), Facebook (10%), Netflix (9%), and FaceTime (8%).

Fixed broadband usage under True Online mirrored the geographical impact of the severe weather. Eastern Thailand registered an 8% increase in home internet consumption, with Trat province up 21%. Greater Bangkok recorded a 5% gain, while the Central-West rose 3%, led by Ratchaburi at 6%. Non-flooded territories saw minimal movement: the Northeast rose by 1%, the South grew 0.6%, and the North remained flat at 0%. True Corporation noted that these behavioral indicators will guide network routing, capacity planning, and emergency infrastructure management for future natural disaster events.
