Brickinfo News Agency – A new nationwide survey conducted by Kantar Insights Thailand, supported by Bolt, indicates that platform work serves as a significant source of financial stability, personal progress, and skill development for thousands of drivers across Thailand. The second phase of the survey, released on October 20, 2025, builds on earlier findings showing the societal respect for platform work, now focusing on the tangible economic and professional benefits for the workforce. A key finding is that 93% of drivers reported an improvement in their household’s financial stability since taking up the work.

The data highlights the strong earning potential and subsequent life advancements achieved by drivers. Nearly one-third (approximately 29%) of drivers are earning between ฿20,001 and ฿40,000 per month, a figure roughly 154% higher than Thailand’s average monthly wage of ฿15,738 (Q4 2024). These earnings have enabled drivers to reach significant financial milestones: 44% have purchased a motorcycle, 43% have bought a car, and 30% have paid for their own or a family member’s education. Most drivers maintain a flexible schedule, working 21–30 hours per week.

Flexibility remains the primary reason for drivers choosing to partner with digital platforms. Almost all drivers (99%) stated that platform work helps them better manage personal and family responsibilities, while 88% reported having full or significant control over their working schedules. This desire to “be your own boss” and earn on their own terms is central to the appeal of the work.

Beyond income, the survey points to professional growth. A majority of drivers (63%) reported improving their time management and customer service skills. Furthermore, 53% have gained new digital and communication skills, and nearly half reported improvements in navigation, logistics, and financial literacy.

Nathadon Suksiritarnan, General Manager, Bolt Thailand, commented on the findings, stating, “Platform work is not just a job. It’s an enabler of financial freedom and personal growth… The survey clearly shows that drivers are building better lives for themselves and their families through flexible, independent work that fits their lifestyles and ambitions.” He added, “Drivers today are digital entrepreneurs… They’re gaining real-world experience that translates into valuable professional skills, from managing time and budgets to building customer relationships.”

The release of this data is relevant to Thailand’s ongoing efforts to advance its Digital Platform Economy policy, led by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) and the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA). Both agencies are working to shape an inclusive digital ecosystem and support fair competition and sustainable growth. The survey provides valuable, data-driven insights to support evidence-based policymaking regarding the role of platform work in economic inclusion, upskilling, and household resilience.
