True Corporation Deploys AI and Flood Monitoring Systems to Maintain Network Resilience Across Thailand
Brickinfo News Agency – True Corporation has mobilized artificial intelligence and predictive analytics to bolster network resilience across Thailand ahead of severe rainfall and flood threats. The telecom operator is utilizing historical flood data, weather forecasts, water levels, and real-time network metrics to identify vulnerable base stations in advance, deploying preventive infrastructure, backup power units, and field teams to ensure uninterrupted telecommunication services nationwide.

The proactive response follows an official weather warning issued on September 1, 2026, by the Thai Meteorological Department, alerting the public to heavy to very heavy precipitation triggered by a monsoon trough linked with Tropical Storm Saudel in the upper South China Sea and a strong southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. In response, engineering teams have carried out field inspections along high-risk routes, including base stations, spare-parts warehouses, and monitoring facilities along the Chao Phraya River across Sing Buri, Chai Nat, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.
To mitigate service disruption, True Corporation has implemented site-specific physical safeguards in low-lying and flood-prone zones. Network equipment at identified stations is being elevated two to three meters above ground level or anticipated flood lines, reinforced with elevated platforms, flood barriers, surveillance cameras, and dedicated water sensors. Khurrum Ashfaque, Chief Network Officer of True Corporation, stated that analyzing historical flood data from the past five years alongside real-time metrics allows the company to identify potential failure points and pre-position equipment and personnel before outages occur.

At the core of the monitoring operations, engineers at the Business Network Intelligence Center (BNIC) operate a 24-hour centralized system that uses predictive modeling to forecast the impact of potential municipal power outages on signal coverage and capacity. When the system detects anomalies, the center directs rapid response units to deploy Cell-on-Wheels (COW) mobile stations, portable generators, fuel supplies, and backup batteries. Field crews are also equipped with flat-bottom boats and four-wheel-drive vehicles to access submerged infrastructure, giving priority to critical cell sites serving hospitals, disaster relief centers, and emergency command hubs.
The operational strategy incorporates lessons learned from previous major flooding events in provinces such as Chiang Rai, Songkhla’s Hat Yai district, and Nan. Thongchai Kwanphut, Head of Network Rollout and Field Operation at True Corporation, noted that emergency operations require close coordination with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM). The company is continuously monitoring traffic spikes in evacuation zones and shelters to dynamically expand bandwidth and dispatch mobile units as demand shifts.
