Brickinfo News Agency – Prime Minister Anuthin Charnvirakul has ordered immediate assistance for victims of a severe collision between a freight train and a passenger bus near the Airport Rail Link Makkasan Station in Bangkok. The accident, which triggered a major vehicle fire, prompted an emergency medical response from multiple public hospitals to treat the injured. The Prime Minister received the urgent report on May 16, 2026, during an official visit to the Si Thep World Heritage site in Phetchabun Province.

Upon receiving the report, Prime Minister Anuthin instructed relevant agencies to fast-track medical treatments for the injured, support the families of the deceased, and launch a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash. Deputy Prime Minister Spokesperson Lalida Perisviwattana stated that the Deputy Minister of Transport has already arrived at the accident scene to monitor the situation directly, ensuring the area is secured and transport services are managed.

The Ministry of Public Health has mobilized extensive medical resources to manage the casualties. Lerdsin Hospital, Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital, and Rajavithi Hospital have been ordered to prepare their emergency rooms, operating theaters, intensive care units (ICUs), and specialized burn units. According to official reports, blood supplies have also been reserved to handle the influx of patients.

Regarding the initial casualties, Rajavithi Hospital has admitted two patients in critical condition, categorized as red code, and five patients with moderate injuries, categorized as yellow code. Meanwhile, the Department of Mental Health has issued a public appeal requesting citizens to refrain from sharing images or videos of the victims and the deceased on social media to respect the families and prevent further trauma.

The incident occurred while Prime Minister Anuthin was touring Khao Klang Nok, a major archaeological structure within the Si Thep Historical Park. Despite the developing situation in Bangkok, the Prime Minister continued his official schedule in Phetchabun Province following the briefing, traveling to the Phutei Subdistrict Municipality in Wichian Buri District to preside over the opening ceremony of the annual Phutei Bun Bang Fai Rocket Festival 2026.
