GWM Thailand Introduces NEW GWM TANK 500 DIESEL with Enhanced Specifications

Brickinfo News Agency – GWM (Thailand) has unveiled the specifications for the NEW GWM TANK 500 DIESEL, aiming to redefine the premium intelligent PPV segment. The latest model, which includes a “Black Warrior” variant, follows the success of the NEW GWM TANK 300 DIESEL. This introduction expands GWM’s product offerings, aligning with its “All Scenarios, All Powertrains, All Users” strategy. The NEW GWM TANK 500 DIESEL integrates a new 2.4T diesel engine with advanced features, designed for both city driving and off-road conditions.

The NEW GWM TANK 500 DIESEL features a 2.4T diesel engine, developed to address common criticisms of traditional diesel PPVs, such as noise, vibration, and fuel consumption. This new engine incorporates technologies like Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT), a 2,000-bar high-pressure injector, electronic EGR system, and a 9-speed automatic transmission. This setup delivers 135 kW (184 hp) at 3,600 rpm and 480 Nm of torque at a low 1,500–2,500 rpm, promising smooth acceleration and stability.

The vehicle is available in three variants: NEW GWM TANK 500 DIESEL 2.4T PRO, NEW GWM TANK 500 DIESEL 2.4T ULTRA, and NEW GWM TANK 500 DIESEL 2.4T ULTRA 4WD. The ULTRA and ULTRA 4WD versions offer a “Black Warrior” special edition color. Exterior color options include white, black, and gray, with an all-black interior. The vehicle’s dimensions are 1,934 mm wide, 4,886 mm long, 1,905 mm high, with a 2,850 mm wheelbase. The 2.4T PRO features 18-inch black alloy wheels with Westlake 265/60 R18 tires, while the 2.4T ULTRA and ULTRA 4WD come with 20-inch black alloy wheels and Continental 265/50 R20 tires.

The NEW GWM TANK 500 DIESEL emphasizes four key areas: premium design, enhanced comfort, intelligent technology, and comprehensive safety. The interior boasts Nappa leather upholstery, a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, multi-color ambient lighting, and a 12-speaker surround sound system. Noise reduction is managed through double-layer laminated glass and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). For comfort, the ULTRA and ULTRA 4WD models include 8-way power adjustable seats with Welcome Seat, Massage Seat, and VIP Switch functions, along with ventilated seats in the first and second rows (ULTRA 4WD only). The spacious cabin offers 795 liters of luggage space and a panoramic sunroof.

Advanced technology in the NEW GWM TANK 500 DIESEL includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch touchscreen with Smart Dual Screen Interaction, and a Windshield Head-Up Display. It also offers 50W wireless charging and a 540-degree camera system. Remote vehicle control via the GWM application and voice commands are supported. Driving modes vary by model: PRO and ULTRA have Normal, Sport, and Eco modes, while the ULTRA 4WD adds 2H, 4H, 4L, Snow, Mud, Sand, Rock, and Expert modes, along with off-road features like Tank Turn, Off-road Cruise Control, and front/rear differential locks. The ULTRA and ULTRA 4WD also feature three automatic parking assist modes.

Safety features on the NEW GWM TANK 500 DIESEL include Level 2+ driving assistance systems, such as ACC, Lane Change Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Intelligent Cruise Assist/Traffic Jam Assist. Additional safety systems include RCTA + RCTB, MEB, a 540-degree camera, and 12 sensors. The vehicle’s Cage-Type body is constructed from ultra-high-strength steel, designed to withstand significant forces and impacts. It also includes automatic unlock in case of an accident.

The new 2.4T diesel engine, exclusive to GWM, focuses on efficiency, quietness, responsiveness, and durability. GWM states the engine achieves optimal combustion and reduced emissions, with cabin noise levels below 68 decibels at idle. The engine’s power and torque delivery are designed for both city driving and long-distance travel. It has undergone over 6 million kilometers of testing globally and comes with a 1 million kilometer or 8-year engine warranty.

The Black Warrior special edition, available for the 2.4T ULTRA and 2.4T ULTRA 4WD, features a glossy black exterior design, special black grille, black alloy wheels, and an all-black interior. This variant is intended to convey a sense of power and sophistication.

Compared to the hybrid model, the NEW GWM TANK 500 DIESEL introduces a 2WD option tailored for the Thai market, with suspension adjustments for local road conditions. The second-row seats have enhanced foam material for improved comfort, and the spare tire location has been moved under the vehicle for easier tailgate access and more convenient storage.
