NBTC and True Inspect SIM Registration in Three Central Provinces to Curb Cybercrime
Brickinfo News Agency – The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) collaborated with True Corporation to conduct on-site inspections across Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, and Phetchaburi, reviewing mobile subscriber registration processes to prevent telecom networks from being exploited by cybercriminals and call-center scams.

The regulatory monitoring focused on evaluating mobile phone service centers and authorized retail partner locations to verify compliance with national identity verification and subscriber registration mandates. Field assessments covered procedures at the True Shop in Central Mahachai, Samut Sakhon, alongside service points in Samut Songkhram and Phetchaburi, checking identity verification protocols, customer data handling, and operating guidelines.

NBTC Legal Commissioner Nathathorn Prousoontorn stated that the on-site inspections serve as proactive measures to guarantee that mobile subscriber registration records remain accurate, complete, and verifiable. He noted that standardized registration is a regulatory mandate and an operational barrier designed to restrict fraudulent call networks from acquiring phone lines for technology-related crimes.

True Corporation Head of Regulatory and Government Affairs Narupon Rattanasamaharn explained that the company cooperates directly with the regulator across subscriber verification, customer data management, and dealer operations. He added that the operator intends to use the regulator’s findings and technical recommendations to adjust internal standard operating procedures for both in-house personnel and authorized dealers.
Alongside administrative and retail checks, the telecom operator reported maintaining its True CyberSafe network service across both True and dtac mobile networks. The automated system monitors internet traffic and incoming text messages to block suspicious domain links and phishing websites at the network level without requiring subscriber software downloads.
