True Corporation Emphasizes Responsible AI and Ethical Governance for Thailand’s Digital Economy

Brickinfo News Agency – Sigve Brekke, Group CEO of True Corporation Plc., highlighted the critical role of ethical governance and responsible artificial intelligence at GCNT EXPO 2026, stating that institutional trust will determine the sustainable growth of Thailand’s digital economy.

Speaking at the True Digital Park forum organized by the Global Compact Network Thailand under the theme “FROM SHOCK TO SHIFT – Sustainable Transition in a Fractured World,” Brekke noted that while rapid cost reductions and increased compute efficiency have pushed global AI adoption to four billion adult monthly users, the corporate priority must shift from deployment speed to accountable stewardship. Citing the Stanford AI Index and recent joint research by the University of Melbourne and KPMG, he pointed out that although 66% of surveyed global users engage with AI regularly, only 46% trust the technology, revealing a persistent accountability gap between technical deployment and operational oversight.

To address governance shortfalls, Brekke referenced OECD findings indicating that while many nations announce baseline AI principles, only 39% enforce pre-deployment risk evaluations and merely 31% carry out post-deployment audits. True Corporation has implemented an internal seven-step screening system and an AI Council overseeing data privacy, encryption, and algorithmic accuracy. Under this framework, high-risk projects face mandatory thresholds of up to 99% accuracy alongside verified human intervention protocols, while third-party partners—who account for roughly 70% of deployed enterprise models—must demonstrate data sovereignty compliance before system integration.

Looking at national objectives, Brekke addressed Thailand’s National AI Strategy, which targets the training of 30,000 specialists and 48 billion baht in economic impact by 2027. He stated that achieving these benchmarks requires expanding technical literacy beyond prompt engineering to include practical validation and system boundary awareness. He further urged the expansion of regulatory sandboxes to test applications securely, alongside a multi-stakeholder model where the state ensures consumer recourse, enterprises take ownership of algorithmic outcomes, and telecom providers secure foundational network infrastructure.
