Brickinfo News Agency – AIS Business has launched “AIS Cloud powered by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure,” a significant step in enhancing Thailand’s digital infrastructure and preparing the country for an AI-driven future. This new hyperscale cloud platform is the first of its kind in Thailand to be fully operated by a Thai company, with data centers located within the country and governed by Thai law. The initiative aims to support the rapid growth of technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, and Big Data, providing a secure and compliant platform for both public and private sector organizations as they navigate digital transformation.

The global landscape is increasingly complex due to rapid digital disruption, geopolitical shifts, and pressing environmental concerns. This environment necessitates that businesses modernize their digital infrastructure. The growing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for competitiveness further emphasizes the need for flexible, AI-ready digital systems. Developing AI requires massive volumes of data, making local storage and processing under Thai jurisdiction crucial for digital sovereignty, data security, and mitigating long-term risks related to policy compliance and operational continuity.

Mr. Phupa Akavipat, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at AIS, stated, “Today, AIS has taken another significant step in advancing the country’s digital infrastructure, in parallel with human capital development, to support the growth of Thailand’s digital economy. We firmly believe that Thailand must have its own AI capabilities to ensure long-term technological sovereignty and resilience.” He further emphasized, “At AIS, we are convinced that ‘digital infrastructure owned and operated by Thais’ is the cornerstone of national development in the digital era. That belief underpins our continued investment in world-class digital infrastructure through collaboration with global technology leaders.”

AIS Cloud – THAI Hyperscale Cloud offers comprehensive and localized services for Thai enterprises, including contracts in Thai, billing in Thai Baht to mitigate foreign exchange risks, and local post-sales support in Thai. The platform is designed for large-scale workloads with high flexibility through auto-scaling capabilities and adheres to rigorous security standards. It also provides end-to-end support for emerging technologies like AI, Machine Learning, and Big Data.

Dr. Passakon Prathombutr, Senior Executive Vice President/Chief Technology Officer at the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), highlighted depa’s mission to drive Thailand’s digital economy by promoting the adoption of technologies such as Cloud Computing, AI, Big Data, and IoT. He noted, “We are accelerating efforts to ensure universal access to high-standard digital services, including certified cloud services, through the dSURE initiative.” Dr. Passakon confirmed that AIS Business is the first service provider in Thailand to receive the dSURE 3-Star certification, which ensures data sovereignty and secure local data storage without cross-border transfers.

In addition to AIS Cloud, AIS has introduced AIS NaaS (Network as a Service), a solution enabling enterprises to manage and configure their network usage independently via a self-service portal. This enhances convenience for expanding or modifying network connections and endpoints, both domestically and internationally, with seamless integration with AIS Cloud through various connectivity options, including fiber optic and 5G.
