TikTok Partners with 12 Agencies for #ThaisAware Season 2 to Combat Digital Fraud
Brickinfo News Agency – TikTok Thailand has expanded its collaboration for the #ThaisAware Season 2 project, welcoming four new government agencies to help combat online fraud and scams. The initiative, which now includes a total of 12 agencies, aims to educate the public and create a more robust digital defense against various threats. The new partners are the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA), Department of Special Investigation (DSI), and the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB).
These new agencies join eight existing partners, including the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), and the Bank of Thailand (BOT). The expanded collaboration is structured to address different facets of online threats, with agencies grouped by their specific expertise. This includes efforts to raise awareness of new scam tactics, enhance safe online shopping practices, and prevent financial and investment fraud.
According to Mr. Prasert Jantararuangtong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society, the ministry is committed to updating policies and legal measures to keep pace with the evolving digital environment. “When the public is empowered and aware of various online threats, the chances of falling victim to scams decrease significantly,” he stated. He added that sharing experiences and approaches to combat fraud from relevant agencies will effectively build public immunity and create a safe environment for internet users in Thailand.
Ms. Chanida Klyphun, Director of Public Policy for Southeast Asia at TikTok, noted that the project is a continuation of last year’s “ThaiAware” campaign. She said the initiative is focused on leveraging the expertise of the partner agencies to produce high-quality, educational content. Ms. Chanida also said that the project will utilize the influence of more than 10 creators with large followings to disseminate knowledge.
The project also includes a special “เอ๊ะ ถาม อ๋อ” (“Wait!, Ask, Know” in Thai) or hashtag challenge, which invites creators to produce viral video content to raise awareness about online threats until September 25, 2025. This challenge, along with the educational content from creators, aims to build sustained vigilance among the public. Ms. Chanida emphasized that fighting online threats is not the responsibility of a single agency but requires unified cooperation from all parties.
