Brickinfo News Agency – True Corporation and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) have partnered to address communication disruptions caused by a road collapse in front of Vajira Hospital on Samsen Road. The collaboration includes the deployment of three Cell-on-Wheels (COW) mobile base stations to boost 5G/4G signals, ensuring that residents, patients, and emergency personnel maintain connectivity. As part of their response, the companies have also provided free Wi-Fi at the Incident Command Post and the Dusit District Center and are offering special relief to affected True Online customers.

The road collapse created a large sinkhole, damaging utility lines and raising concerns about service continuity. Following the incident, True dispatched engineering teams to the site to assess the situation and deploy the mobile base stations. These COW units were put in place to manage the increased demand on the network and provide stable communication channels for government agencies and the public.

“Today, NBTC inspected the area in front of Vajira Hospital on Samsen Road to monitor the road collapse and check network quality together with mobile and broadband operators,” said Mr. Trairat Viriyasirikul, NBTC Deputy Secretary-General and Acting Secretary-General. He stated that the NBTC has directed operators to activate their disaster-response protocols, including the immediate deployment of COW units and engineering teams. He added that these measures are part of a continuous effort to ensure connectivity during emergencies and that contingency plans are ready in case an evacuation is necessary.

Mr. Narupon Rattanasamaharn, Head of Regulatory & Government Relations Division at True Corporation, confirmed the company’s readiness. “For True Corporation’s mobile network, we are fully prepared to provide maximum service capacity within a 1–2 square kilometers radius of the road collapse site,” he said. Mr. Narupon highlighted that the deployed COW units are an integral part of True’s emergency plan, designed to ensure reliable communications during a potential evacuation.

Drawing on lessons from past disaster-relief efforts, True’s response at the Vajira Hospital site incorporates strategies used during building collapses caused by earthquakes. Mr. Narupon explained that applying this experience has strengthened their emergency plan, guaranteeing that both the public and government agencies have uninterrupted access to high-speed internet.

In addition to deploying the COW units, True and NBTC are providing free Wi-Fi access at the Incident Command Post (ICP) and the Dusit District Center to support government officials and rescue teams with high-speed internet for coordination. To help True Online customers affected by the disruption of home internet services, True is providing 10GB of free mobile data for three days. The company is also maintaining 24-hour monitoring of both its mobile and broadband networks to ensure continued service stability.
