True Corporation and DDPM Strengthen Thailand’s T-Alert System with Cell Broadcast and True ID Alerts

Brickinfo News Agency – True Corporation is continuing its support for the Thai government and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) to enhance the national T-Alert emergency warning system. This collaboration aims to deliver timely and accurate disaster alerts to the public. In 2025, True successfully implemented a nationwide Cell Broadcast Service (CBS) in partnership with the DDPM and the NBTC, a significant development for Thailand’s early warning capabilities. The company is also planning to test a new emergency alert function on True ID, which will display urgent messages as pop-ups on TV screens.

The T-Alert system is a multi-channel framework designed to distribute information about both active and potential disasters, along with safety instructions. The goal is to reach people in at-risk areas with speed and precision. The system is the result of a collaboration between various government agencies, private-sector partners, and related organizations, with the DDPM serving as the central agency for data and operational guidelines.

The year 2025 marks a key milestone with the launch of the Cell Broadcast Service on mobile networks in Thailand. True Corporation provided comprehensive support to make the system operational. The CBS is now an integral part of the T-Alert framework. To further expand communication channels, True is also preparing to test alerts via True ID for its online TV audience, broadening the reach of the warning system.

The Cell Broadcast System operates with two main components: a Cell Broadcast Entity (CBE), which is operated by government agencies with the DDPM authorized to send alerts, and a Cell Broadcast Center (CBC), which is operated by mobile service providers. True Corporation has installed the CBC nationwide, with 100% operational readiness. According to Mr. Narupon Rattanasamaharn, Head of Regulatory & Government Relations Division at True Corporation Plc., “Cell Broadcast alerts, implemented in partnership with DDPM and the NBTC, are sent only during severe emergencies, such as natural disasters, violent incidents, and other threats that put lives and property at risk. This fast and precise communication enables people to prepare and follow safety instructions without delay.”

The CBS can be configured to target specific areas, ranging from localized zones to entire provinces, regions, or even the whole country. Unlike traditional SMS, it does not require users to install a separate application, making it more effective at reaching individuals in danger zones. The DDPM and related agencies have established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) message standards for the system. Currently, the system covers eight types of hazards: earthquakes, tsunamis, storms, floods, landslides, cold spells, PM 2.5 air pollution, and violent incidents in public areas. Plans are in place to expand coverage to six additional hazards, including pandemics, fires, chemical incidents, threats from external armed forces, traffic emergencies, and cyber threats, with completion expected by the end of 2026.
