Brickinfo News Agency – A recent nationwide survey conducted by AIS reveals that the majority of Thais are at a “basic” level of digital wellness. The “Thailand Cyber Wellness Index 2025” indicates an improving trend from the previous year, yet highlights that children, adolescents, and the elderly remain high-risk groups who urgently need support to enhance their digital skills. The survey, which reached 66,302 respondents across all 77 provinces, also points to significant gaps in understanding digital rights and AI literacy.

The 2025 survey’s findings show an average score of 0.70 for the Thai population’s digital wellness, classifying it as “Basic.” Despite this overall trend, the data reveals that vulnerable populations, particularly young people and seniors, lack a robust understanding of key issues such as privacy rights, freedom of expression, and responsible digital decision-making. This deficit underscores a pressing need for increased awareness of both individual rights and the importance of respecting the rights of others to build a more responsible digital culture.

AIS has also integrated a new component into the index to measure AI literacy, a skill considered vital in the current technological landscape. The assessment found that Thais scored an average of 3.18 out of 5.00, which is a moderate level. However, the lowest scores were recorded among children aged 10-12 and individuals over 40. This points to a clear need for targeted initiatives to close the knowledge gap and prepare citizens to navigate the risks associated with artificial intelligence technologies.

Saichon Submakudom, Head of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs Business Unit at AIS, commented on the findings. “AIS has consistently prioritized promoting the safe, responsible, and rights-respecting use of digital technology through initiatives such as the AIS Aunjai Cyber program,” she said. “The Thailand Cyber Wellness Index (TCWI) serves as an important tool for monitoring the digital wellness of Thai people across multiple dimensions amid the rapid evolution of technology.”

According to Ms. Submakudom, the company has also collaborated with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) to validate the effectiveness of the Aunjai Cyber curriculum. Experimental research confirmed that participation in the program significantly improves participants’ digital wellness. AIS believes that a safe digital society must begin with education and skill development tailored to specific age groups, especially for vulnerable populations like children and the elderly who require continuous support.

The Thailand Cyber Wellness Index is a tool intended to guide national policy and measures. By providing a systematic assessment of digital wellness, the index can help inform the design of educational programs, public communication campaigns, and digital services that meet the needs of different demographics. The goal is to narrow the digital divide and strengthen the nation’s overall cyber resilience for the long term.
