Thai Fourth Army Region Commander Monitors Southern Border Situation Following Multi-Site Incidents as Narathiwat Imposes Overnight Curfew
Brickinfo News Agency – Fourth Army Region Commander Lt. Gen. Norathip Poynok directed security units to prioritize public safety, secure multiple affected sites, and maintain law and order following coordinated unrest and bomb attacks across the southern border provinces on August 22, 2026.
In his capacity as the Director of the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Forward Command (ISOC Region 4), Lt. Gen. Norathip convened an urgent assessment meeting at 9:00 PM. Operational units received directives to swiftly inspect incident sites, establish tight security perimeters, and coordinate closely with local administrative bodies and police forces to protect local residents and track down the perpetrators under standard legal procedures.

Authorities advised residents across the southern border area to remain indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from designated security zones, and refrain from approaching any suspicious objects. The public has been requested to monitor updates strictly through verified official channels and avoid circulating unverified imagery or information that could disrupt security assessments and ongoing operations.
In response to the multi-site bombings across Narathiwat Province, the Narathiwat Special Task Force declared an emergency overnight curfew across all districts under the authority of the Martial Law Act, B.E. 2457 (1914). The order prohibits individuals from leaving their residences between 10:15 PM on August 22 and 6:00 AM on August 23, 2026, unless granted exceptional permission by local military, police, or designated administrative officials.

Under the martial law provisions invoked, military authorities in Narathiwat hold expanded search and security powers to execute strategic operations, suppress civil unrest, and restore regional stability. Civil administration agencies are required to support military operations, while the general public is urged to cooperate with ongoing measures and immediately report suspicious persons, items, or vehicles to local officers or the 24-hour ISOC Region 4 hotline at 1341.
