True Corporation Extends Communications Support for Flood Relief in Chiang Mai
Brickinfo News Agency – True Corporation has continued its disaster response efforts in Pang Ung, Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province, following heavy rainfall and flooding caused by Typhoon Kajiki. The company has focused on reinforcing communication networks and providing essential support to both affected residents and emergency response teams. As part of its initiatives, True has installed free WiFi hotspots at temporary shelters, delivered relief supplies, and maintained network stability with backup power systems. These efforts are aimed at ensuring continuous and reliable connectivity for the over 130 displaced residents and the government, military, and medical personnel assisting them.
The free WiFi service, which is available 24/7 and accessible to all mobile networks, has been established at several key locations, including the Mae Suek Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Pang Ung School, and the Mae Chaem District Emergency Command Center for Flood Relief. This action follows earlier measures by the company, which included deploying Cell-on-Wheels (COW) units to strengthen 5G and 4G signals in critical areas. Emergency generators were also installed at key base stations in Pang Ung to ensure that communication services remained operational during power outages.

Teams from True Corporation were dispatched to the flood- and landslide-affected zones to assess damage and establish an emergency communications system. In addition to providing power generators and fuel, the company prepared backup batteries and utilized 4WD vehicles and flat-bottom boats to access flooded areas. These emergency repair teams, equipped with spare parts, have been continuously deployed to ensure network services are available for residents to connect with family and friends and for officials to carry out their operations.
To manage the situation, True Corporation has established a “War Room” at its Business and Network Intelligence Center (BNIC). This central hub uses AI systems for real-time network monitoring and analysis, allowing for automatic optimization of signal coverage. The company has also emphasized its collaboration with government agencies, including the NBTC and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), to enhance the efficiency of the overall relief efforts.
