Thai-Cambodian Border Clashes Day 2: Military Operations and Civilian Impact Reported
Brickinfo News Agency – The 2nd Army Area Forward Command Center (2nd AAFCC) has released an update on the ongoing clashes along the Thai-Cambodian border as of 4:00 PM on July 25, 2025. The report details continued military engagements, civilian evacuations, and the impact on local communities in Thailand.
The situation indicates that the opposing forces are primarily employing infantry to engage Thai troops in key areas such as Chong Bok, Samtae, Phu Makheua, Chong Ta Thao, Prasat Ta Muean, and Prasat Ta Khwai. These ground assaults are supported by intermittent and sustained artillery fire. Efforts to seize Hill 469 in the Chong Bok area persist, while at Chong Arn Ma, troop repositioning has led to a decrease in light skirmishes. Samtae continues to experience heavy shelling from tanks and artillery. Significant damage has been inflicted on the opposing forces in the Sattasom area. Near Khao Phra Wihan, clashes are ongoing around Wat Phra Kaew.
In Phu Makheua, strategic maneuvers are underway to gain tactical advantages. Hill 350 has been neutralized by Thai forces’ supporting fire. Opposing forces’ advances on Prasat Ta Khwai in Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin Province, and Prasat Ta Muean Thom, also in Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin Province, have been repelled by Thai supporting fire, forcing a retreat. Approximately 100 opposing soldiers have been reported killed in the Phu Phi area.
In response to the escalating situation, provincial authorities have continued to evacuate residents from high-risk border areas to designated civilian assembly points in four inner provinces. A total of 63,446 people have been evacuated to these safe zones. Regarding the impact on civilians, no new reports of damaged areas have emerged.
However, artillery shells have landed in Ta Miang, Bak Dai, and Chik Daek sub-districts of Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin Province. In Si Wichian sub-district, Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, a BM-21 rocket strike damaged four civilian homes. Additionally, artillery shells have fallen in Rung, Mueang, and Nong Ya Lat sub-districts of Kantaralak District, Si Sa Ket Province.
Humanitarian aid efforts are actively underway, with Royal Volunteer teams providing assistance to affected populations across the four provinces. Seven Royal Kitchens and eight mobile field kitchens have been established, distributing 15,000 meal boxes per meal, totaling 52,000 meal boxes daily to evacuees. The 2nd AAFCC urges the public to refrain from photographing, video recording, or sharing information about troop movements, military equipment, operational routes, or security forces’ activities to prevent misinformation and potential misuse by ill-intentioned individuals.
The public is also advised to be vigilant against fake news circulating widely on social media and to verify information from official and reliable sources. With ongoing clashes across the border areas of Buriram, Surin, Si Sa Ket, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces, residents are strongly encouraged to avoid approaching these border zones for their safety.
