Brickinfo News Agency – The Royal Thai Army reported a significant security violation this morning following a rocket barrage launched by Cambodian soldiers into Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin Province. The attack, which utilized BM-21 rockets, struck widespread civilian areas and resulted in shells landing dangerously close to Phanom Dong Rak Hospital. In response to the bombardment, military forces have executed an urgent evacuation of the area while formally condemning the act as a severe breach of humanitarian principles.

According to the report from the 2nd Army Area, the incident occurred at 07:15 a.m. today. The artillery strike covered a broad trajectory, impacting Tambon Ta Miang, Tambon Bak Dai, and Tambon Chik Daek. Officials confirmed that over 50 rounds were fired during the barrage. Of particular concern to authorities was the detection of five rounds landing in the immediate vicinity of Phanom Dong Rak Hospital, posing a direct threat to a protected medical facility.

Following the attack, military units and relevant agencies mobilized to expedite the evacuation of all patients, medical personnel, and residents to designated safe shelters. The Royal Thai Army is currently monitoring the situation closely and has implemented increased protective measures to ensure the safety of the population in the border region.

The Royal Thai Army has issued a statement condemning Cambodia’s use of heavy weaponry against civilian areas, characterizing the incident as a violation of Thai sovereignty and a grave breach of humanitarian standards. The firing of multiple rocket launchers into community zones and near medical facilities was described as unacceptable behavior posing an extreme threat to innocent people.
