Brickinfo News Agency – The U.S. Department of State has updated its Travel Advisory for Thailand, elevating the country to Level 1 – Exercise Normal Precautions. This designation, effective June 9, 2025, positions Thailand among countries like Japan, Australia, Canada, and Singapore as a safe destination for international travelers. The upgrade suggests increased confidence in Thailand’s safety standards for tourists.

This reclassification is expected to positively influence Thailand’s tourism sector, including hotels, restaurants, and other service industries. The move could contribute to the ongoing recovery of these sectors, potentially creating employment opportunities and distributing economic benefits to communities across the country. The US tourist market is particularly noted for its high spending potential and preference for quality travel experiences, making this upgrade significant for the Thai economy.

While the overall travel advisory for Thailand has improved, the three southern border provinces of Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat remain under a Level 2 – Increased Caution advisory. However, major tourist destinations such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Pattaya are considered safe according to international standards.

Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office of Thailand, highlighted the efforts made by Thailand to ensure tourist safety. These measures include the establishment of the Tourist Assistance Center (TAC), a fund for assisting foreign tourists, and a dedicated division within the courts for tourist-related cases to facilitate a systematic approach to justice.
