Thailand’s Chulalongkorn University and True Digital Park Partner to Link Thai Startups with Global Innovation Hubs
Brickinfo News Agency – The Faculty of Architecture and the Academic Service Center of Chulalongkorn University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with True Digital Park to launch a strategic project titled “Development of Innovation Districts to Support Startups through Global Model Learning.” This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between academic deep-tech research and commercial application by studying successful innovation blueprints from the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Singapore. The collaboration specifically targets high-growth sectors, including Future Food, Health Tech, and Green Innovation, to elevate Thailand’s digital economy to international standards.
The partnership focuses on analyzing and adapting success factors from three distinct global models to the Thai context. These include the community-engaged sustainability of Utrecht (Netherlands), the university-to-market integration seen in Glasgow (United Kingdom), and the agile policy frameworks of Singapore. The data gathered from these international case studies will be synthesized into a Policy Whitepaper and a 10-year strategic roadmap intended to serve as a national framework for the Thai government and private sectors.
Associate Professor Panit Pujinda, the Project Leader, stated that the university aims to translate lessons from global case studies and adapt them to “Thai DNA.” He explained, “The data from this study will be synthesized into a Policy Whitepaper and a 10-year roadmap to address the country’s structural challenges sustainably.” This academic contribution is designed to empower startups within the Quadruple Helix engagement mechanism, which connects the university, private sector, government, and society.
Assistant Professor Sarayut Supsook, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, emphasized that the university’s role is evolving beyond traditional education. “This partnership marks the beginning of the university’s expanding role from a source of knowledge to a key driver of innovation in real-world contexts, where we can continuously experiment, refine, and scale initiatives both in Bangkok and throughout the regions,” he said.
From a private sector perspective, True Digital Park will act as a “Living Lab” to pilot these innovation models. Ms. Sasithorn Varanyuwatana, General Manager of True Digital Park, highlighted the goal of making Thailand a destination for global investment and high-skilled talent. “We aim to establish a solid foundation for Thai startups to transcend academic research barriers and achieve real market access,” she noted, adding that the park currently interconnects over 6,000 stakeholders within the Bangkok CyberTech District.
The project aligns with a broader 2026 ambition to position Bangkok as a central hub for global tech events and international partnerships. By leveraging cross-border collaborative networks, the initiative hopes to ensure that Thai innovation is not only locally relevant but also globally competitive and ready for venture capital investment.
