THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT RELEASES NEW “DARK THOUGHTS” EP
Brickinfo News Agency – Following the success of two previous singles, The Funeral Portrait has released “Dark Thoughts” to radio, a track from their album Greetings From Suffocate City. The song, which addresses mental health, is also featured on a new four-track EP titled “Dark Thoughts”. The EP includes the original version of the song, a version with Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria, a new remix, and a live performance recorded in their hometown of Atlanta, GA.
The new EP was released on August 22, 2025, through Better Noise Music. Two videos were also released on the same day: the “Beyond The Abyss Remix” and a live performance version.
Frontman Lee Jennings noted that the band wanted to create something unique for their fanbase, known as the “Coffin Crew.” He highlighted the inclusion of the live version, recorded during their first-ever sold-out show in Atlanta.
Jennings also elaborated on the inspiration behind the song, stating that “‘Dark Thoughts’ is a fun and energetic song meant to highlight our own mental health struggles. I wrote it about being diagnosed with OCD, I’m glad that more people can relate.” He added that the song is “deeply rooted in feeling trapped in your own head,” and that the band hopes to build a community where they and their fans can support each other through difficult times.
The release of “Dark Thoughts” follows The Funeral Portrait’s recent success on the charts. Their previous two singles, “Holy Water” featuring Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch and “Suffocate City (feat. Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills),” both reached number one on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay and Mediabase’s Active Rock charts.
The deluxe edition of Greetings From Suffocate City, which was originally released in September 2024, features 24 songs. The band is currently on tour, with upcoming appearances at festivals and tours with bands like Ice Nine Kills and In This Moment. They are also scheduled to tour in Europe with The Rasmus later this year.
