Evidence of Mine Planting by Cambodian Forces Found on Lost Mobile Phone
Brickinfo News Agency – The Thailand Mine Action Center (TMAC) has stated that it possesses clear evidence that Cambodian soldiers are actively planting anti-personnel mines along the border. The evidence, including photographs and video footage, was discovered on a mobile phone recovered by Humanitarian Mine Action Unit 2 in the Phu Makua area of Sisaket province. This finding directly contradicts Cambodia’s obligations under the Ottawa Convention.
The TMAC has strongly condemned these actions, highlighting that they pose a serious threat to both humanitarian demining personnel and innocent civilians. The center emphasized that the deliberate planting of mines is intended to cause injury, permanent disability, and long-term suffering.

According to the TMAC, such acts violate the laws and customs of war and contravene international humanitarian law. The center also stated that these actions demonstrate a lack of genuine commitment by Cambodia to peacefully resolve ongoing border disputes. The TMAC expects this incident to serve as undeniable evidence to the international community of Cambodia’s intent to obstruct peace and stability efforts in the region.
The TMAC’s statement concludes by asserting that this development must be taken into account for future measures in response to Cambodia’s actions.
