Global Semiconductor Revenue Forecast to Hit $1.6 Trillion in 2026 Driven by AI and Memory Demand
Brickinfo News Agency – Worldwide semiconductor revenue is projected to surge by 92% to reach $1.6 trillion in 2026, up from $809 billion in 2025, according to a market forecast by research firm Gartner, Inc. The industry expansion is anticipated to maintain its upward trajectory into 2027, with total market revenue forecast to reach $1.9 trillion, fueled primarily by accelerated spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure and surging memory chip values.
The market momentum reflects structural shifts in application demand and infrastructure investment. Gartner reports that the AI data center segment is estimated to generate 36.5% of overall semiconductor revenue in 2026 and expand to exceed 53% by 2030. Ben Lee, Director Analyst at Gartner, stated that the semiconductor sector is experiencing an accelerated growth cycle supported by ongoing AI infrastructure development and strong pricing trends across memory product categories.
The memory market represents the primary driver of this top-line growth, accounting for an estimated 54% of global semiconductor revenue in 2026, compared to 27% in 2025. Segment revenue is expected to reach $837.3 billion in 2026 before crossing $1 trillion to hit $1,075.5 billion in 2027. Sub-segment projections indicate that DRAM revenue will increase by 246.6% in 2026, while NAND flash revenue is projected to rise by 371.9%. Despite projected production capacity additions in 2027, supply balances are expected to remain constrained due to sustained consumption.

Shrish Pant, Director Analyst at Gartner, noted that memory market conditions have shifted fundamentally due to higher memory capacity requirements per AI server and sustained demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM). Pant added that while price expansion serves as the primary catalyst in 2026, broader AI server deployments and content density will sustain segment revenue throughout 2027 and subsequent years.
The non-memory semiconductor sector is also recording parallel gains as AI clusters require scaling in supporting architectures. Excluding memory components, semiconductor revenue is forecast to climb from $589 billion in 2025 to $717.9 billion in 2026—a 21.9% increase—before reaching $864.4 billion in 2027. Lee noted that expanding infrastructure requirements are driving capital allocations across diverse component segments, including central processing units (CPUs), networking silicon, power management units, analog components, and optical interconnects.
