LANDOKMAI Releases “WHAT EVE” EP, Their First English-Language Album

Brickinfo News Agency – Thai indie band LANDOKMAI, signed under What The Duck, has officially released their first English-language EP, “WHAT EVE.” This new five-track offering follows their 2023 full-length album, “All my purple feelings,” which garnered significant attention, notably with the popular track “Pleng Rak Pleng Raek.” The band concluded 2024 with their debut concert, “Rudoo Fan CONCERT (Castle in the Air),” and now embarks on a new chapter with this international release.

The duo, composed of Upim and Ant, describes “WHAT EVE” as a collection of songs that introduce fresh lyrical and musical elements while maintaining the band’s signature intensity. The EP’s content reflects the artists’ growth, akin to a new garden where fantasy and reality intertwine more prominently. The overarching concept of “WHAT EVE” revolves around the question, “What if…?”, inviting listeners to explore answers through the music.

The EP opens with “Hearsay,” an upbeat and vibrant track. The inspiration for this song came from Upim observing people around her often being restricted or confined, which she then adapted to the context of relationships.

In contrast, the second track, “Finger paint,” offers a warm and gentle atmosphere. This song explores the perspective of two individuals who have navigated various experiences over time but remain constant for each other. A notable collaboration on this track features Seol Hoseung, a K-Indie artist from the band SURL, contributing to its distinct sound.

Following these, “Love me still” is a melancholic yet easy-listening song with distinctive musical arrangements. It evokes memories of past loves that, despite disappointment, are accepted with a sense of willingness, even if painful. The melody aims to provide solace for those experiencing heartbreak.

The EP then shifts with “Mr. Masterpiece,” a track encompassing emotions of despair, regret, sadness, and ultimately, moving forward. The song portrays falling in love with someone who is likened to a “Mr. Masterpiece” but is already taken. Despite the sadness, the narrative suggests letting go and continuing with life. This track features hidden Thai lyrics and incorporates bossa nova, jazz, and blues elements, creating a relaxing listening experience.

The EP concludes with “Bye Bye Neverland,” a song designed to transport listeners back to cherished memories with its dreamy, expansive sound, characteristic of LANDOKMAI. This track stands out for its musical depth. The latter part of the song incorporates real vocal harmonies from children, adding to its power and providing a fitting close to the EP. LANDOKMAI stated that while aspects of this EP may seem new for them, “WHAT EVE” retains their core spirit, symbolizing a new season for the band’s musical journey.
