Thai Rockers The Young Wolf Shift Gears with New American Country-Inspired Single “The Queen (of my heart)”
Brickinfo News Agency – The rising Thai rock ensemble The Young Wolf, under the MACROWAVE label of Tero Music, has officially released its third single, “The Queen (of my heart).” Departing from the high-octane energy of their previous hits “The King (is back)” and “The Jack (rider),” the band has pivoted toward a sophisticated American Country and Southern Rock sound. This latest release aims to showcase the group’s musical versatility by blending raw emotional vulnerability with international production standards, marking a significant tonal shift in their ongoing series of playing-card-themed tracks.
To achieve an authentic Western sound, the band collaborated with renowned producer Shane Edwards at Studio 28. The technical highlight of the track is the prominent use of the Pedal Steel Guitar, played by guest musician Suwat Bluesman. The instrument’s signature sliding tones provide a mournful yet melodic backdrop that complements lead singer Jonathan’s vocals. This production choice creates a “Western Cowboy” atmosphere, emphasizing a sense of solitude and devotion that contrasts sharply with the band’s earlier hard-rocking reputation.
The lyrical narrative of the song explores the concept of total emotional surrender. Through lines such as “years and years pass by, rivers all run dry” and the climactic hook “Come back, reign over me… I don’t wanna be free,” the track depicts a protagonist who chooses to remain bound to the memory of a lost love. The band utilizes the metaphor of a “candle at the window” to represent a love that remains steadfast and undiminished by time, choosing to embrace heartache rather than seeking liberation from it.
Reflecting on the production process, the band members noted that the collaboration with an international producer helped elevate their technical execution. “The Queen (of my heart) is a continuation from The Jack and The King,” The Young Wolf stated. “It’s about someone who worships another person and wants them to return; even if we are their slave, we crown them our Queen. The mood is Southern Country, featuring P’ Suwat Bluesman on the Pedal Steel. Our producer, Shane Edwards, really pushed us to the next level. He has a deep understanding of American Rock gains and instrumentation, bringing out potential in our sound that we hadn’t explored before.”
