Thai Customs Seizes Illegally Imported Trading Cards and Matcha Powder at Suvarnabhumi Airport
Brickinfo News Agency – Suvarnabhumi Airport Cargo Clearance Customs Office seized an unauthorized shipment of trading card games and matcha powder imported from Japan on August 4, 2026, after discovering false declarations that resulted in over 3.2 million baht in unpaid taxes and duties.

Customs officials flagged the incoming cargo following irregularities detected in the import declaration forms. A thorough inspection revealed that the shipment contained trading card games and matcha green tea powder imported without the required legal permits. Furthermore, the importer provided inaccurate information to avoid paying full duty fees, causing significant tax revenue losses to the state.

The offense constitutes a violation under the Customs Act, B.E. 2560 (2017) for making false entries or declarations to evade or attempt to evade tax payments. The illegal import also violates product control laws, including the Food Act, B.E. 2522 (1979), the Export and Import of Goods Act, B.E. 2522 (1979), and the Plant Quarantine Act, B.E. 2507 (1964), due to the lack of proper regulatory permits prior to clearance.
