Latest Updates on 2025 Thai-Cambodia Conflict

Brickinfo News Agency – Despite a declared ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia following an agreement in Kuala Lumpur, the Thai government confirmed on July 29, 2025, that violations persist in multiple areas along the border. Jirayu Huangsub, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office and the Border Situation Center (BSC), stated at the Government Press Center, Narisamosorn Building, Government House, that reports of breaches have been received since midnight on the previous day. The government is maintaining its military presence to protect Thai sovereignty and the safety of citizens in seven border provinces, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is preparing to protest to Malaysia, China, and the United States later in the day.

The government indicated that a full assessment of the violations, including locations, characteristics, and supporting evidence, was necessary before a comprehensive report could be issued. The First and Second Army Regions, along with naval forces in Chanthaburi and Trat provinces, concluded their detailed reports by approximately 10:00 AM. Discussions are underway for a new meeting between the army commanders of both nations, although immediate communication is being handled via telephone to resolve practical issues.

During a Cabinet meeting, a resolution reaffirmed four key points. Firstly, the military is to fully defend Thailand’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Secondly, the government reiterated its prior decision to recall the Thai ambassador from Cambodia and to send the Cambodian ambassador back. Thirdly, the Ministry of Interior and related agencies were tasked with providing immediate care for affected citizens in border areas, particularly regarding evacuations, pending field verification from the BSC. Lastly, the BSC is to continuously monitor the situation and provide public updates as emergencies arise.

Mr. Jirayu emphasized that the Royal Thai Army maintains a “gentlemanly” approach in all its operations, whether air or ground. He stated that Thai soldiers have not targeted civilians, distinguishing their actions from those of the opposing side. He added that it is evident to the international community that Thailand has been consistently subjected to aggression. Furthermore, during discussions with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in his capacity as ASEAN Chair, Thailand reaffirmed the principles of freedom and peace in Southeast Asia. Updated details will be presented at subsequent meetings of the Cabinet, BSC, and the National Security Council (NSC) later today.

The spokesperson also addressed Cambodian media reports claiming their side had ceased fire, noting that Cambodia has the right to issue such statements, a practice they have maintained for several days. However, the Thai military continues to hold its ground to protect its sovereignty without retaliating against civilians or acting beyond necessary limits. The government plans to issue press statements hourly to ensure the public receives transparent and timely information. Reports of Cambodian IO (Information Operations) and cyber operations targeting Thailand have also emerged, with security agencies indicating that Cambodian IO, linked to call center networks, has shifted from deceiving the public to inciting conflict among Thais. Over 500 million fake accounts have been used in these attacks over the past few days, and the public is urged to counter these cyber operations online.
