SCGC Restarts Rayong Olefins Plant Following Middle East Disruption

Brickinfo News Agency – SCG Chemicals (SCGC) has resumed operations at its Rayong Olefins (ROC) manufacturing facility following a six-month temporary shutdown triggered by instability in the Middle East. The restart procedure began on September 17, 2026, following evaluations of operational safety, environmental protocols, and facility readiness.

The plant, operated by SCGC subsidiary Rayong Olefins Co., Ltd., was temporarily taken offline in March 2026 as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East affected global petrochemical operations and raw material flows. Company executives confirmed that the facility met all requisite safety and technical criteria before initiating the phased reactivation.

Sakchai Patiparnpreechavud, Chief Executive Officer and President of SCG Chemicals Public Company Limited, stated that the operational restart was driven by improved feedstock security, plant readiness, and the need to maintain supply continuity for commercial clients and supply chain partners.

The company stated that while operations have resumed, market conditions linked to the Middle East remain volatile. SCGC plans to maintain flexible operating strategies, monitor regional developments, and adjust feedstock procurement and production rates to mitigate potential market fluctuations and ongoing industry challenges.
