Brickinfo News Agency – The Ministry of Commerce has partnered with CP AXTRA Public Company Limited to launch the Eastern Fruit Caravan, a strategic initiative designed to support Thai farmers by distributing fresh seasonal produce through Makro and Lotus’s stores nationwide. This collaboration aims to stabilize agricultural prices and expand market access for fruit growers in Chanthaburi and neighboring provinces during the peak harvest season.

The official launch ceremony in Chanthaburi was presided over by Mrs. Suphajee Suthumpun, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, alongside senior government and private sector executives. The caravan is tasked with distributing over 100 tonnes of durian and various Thai fruits across export markets and modern trade channels. By sourcing directly from orchards, the program helps prevent market oversaturation and ensures that farmers receive fair compensation for their labor.

Beyond logistics, the partnership focuses on enhancing post-harvest management. By implementing standardized handling and transportation processes from the farm to the shelf, the initiative maintains the freshness of the produce while minimizing waste. This systemic improvement allows consumers to access premium-quality fruit at competitive prices while providing a more predictable and sustainable income stream for local agricultural communities.

Simultaneously, CP AXTRA is stimulating domestic consumption through the “Thailand Fruit Fest” campaign. A major highlight is the “Let’s Dorian” durian buffet, which offers an all-you-can-eat experience featuring fresh Eastern-region produce for 599 THB. The campaign, which runs until May 17, 2026, was officially inaugurated at Lotus’s Bangna by Sub Lt. Chakra Yodmani, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce. This wholesale and retail network serves as a vital bridge, connecting rural farmers directly to urban households across Thailand.
