Thai Umamusume Fans and Cosplayers Make History with Run in Real Racetrack at Horseracing Event
Brickinfo News Agency – A historic event unfolded at the Royal Turf Club of Thailand when over 450 fans and cosplayers of the popular mobile game Umamusume Pretty Derby gathered to watch a live horseracing event from total attendance of 3,914 people.

The gathering took place during the Queen’s Cup on August 3, 2025, and brought a vibrant new energy to the local horseracing scene. The enthusiasm of the fans, many of whom were new to the sport, highlights a growing connection between video game culture and traditional sports.

The success of the English version of Umamusume Pretty Derby has helped to bridge the gap between virtual entertainment and real-world horseracing, attracting a new generation of enthusiasts.

Many attendees told Brickinfo News Agency that it was their first time at a live race and they were excited by the unique atmosphere. Admins of a local horseracing fan page also expressed their delight at the positive reception from a younger crowd.

The event marked a historic milestone when, after the races concluded, a group of “horse girl” cosplayers was allowed onto the grass track for photos. This is believed to be the first time in the world that a racetrack has permitted fans to participate in such an activity on a live race day. In countries like Japan and the United States, similar events have only been allowed on non-race days. The decision by the Royal Turf Club of Thailand signals a progressive approach, embracing modern culture to engage with a new audience.
The races themselves featured horses with memorable names that added to the excitement, including Star of Esan, Mitoma, The Boy, Blue Eye, Champs-Élysées, Great Dragon, and Krub Nai.

This event demonstrates the power of pop culture and video games to act as a soft power, successfully drawing a new demographic to traditional sports. It serves as a compelling example of how two different worlds can converge, potentially broadening the appeal of horseracing in the future.
