Bangkok Design Week 2025

Brickinfo News Agency – Thai-Canadian drummer, producer, and songwriter Salin Cheewapansri is set to perform a full live show in Bangkok on January 9, 2026, at Lido Connect. Salin, known for blending jazz and Thai musical elements, is returning following a notable performance earlier in 2025 at Bangkok Design Week. Her upcoming event, titled “#HYHBKK Live! with Salin,” will showcase her distinct musical style developed over years in the North American jazz scene.

Born and raised in Thailand, Salin moved to North America at the age of 20 to pursue her music career. She has since become an established figure in Canada’s jazz community, gaining international recognition, including a prominent appearance on the live music platform KEXP, where she performed while wearing traditional Thai attire. Her return to the Thai stage for the first time in early 2025 at Bangkok Design Week made a significant impression on local audiences.

Salin’s musical journey began as a self-taught drummer uploading clips to YouTube, which eventually led to her playing with the Thai grunge band Onaree. Her interests evolved from rock and metal to jazz. While studying in the U.S., she started busking and playing jam sessions, which led to an invitation to join the band of Canadian jazz artist Dominique Fils-Aimé. This opportunity prompted her move to Montreal, marking the start of her professional music career.

Her work on Dominique Fils-Aimé’s album contributed to its win of the Juno Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year in 2019. Salin later released her own debut album, Cosmic Island, which features a blend of jazz, soul, funk, and groove, drawing inspiration from her thesis research on river pollution in Thailand. Following tours across the U.S. and Europe, she launched a new project in 2025 titled Rammana. This collection incorporates Afro-jazz, funk, and Thai folk music, focusing on themes of identity, spirit, and joy, and earned her a spot as one of CBC’s 2025 Revelation Artists.
