Brickinfo News Agency – Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul held a telephone conversation with Republic of Korea President Lee Jae Myung on October 16 while the Prime Minister was on a visit to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (LPDR). The leaders discussed deepening investment cooperation and addressing the pressing issue of scammer operations based in Cambodia that have victimized citizens of both nations.

The details of the call were revealed by Deputy Government Spokesperson Traisuree Taisaranakul on her social media, highlighting the mutual interest in strengthening the Thai-South Korean relationship. On the economic front, the South Korean government expressed interest and a positive outlook toward increasing investment in Thailand. This signifies a potential boost in bilateral trade and economic activities between the two countries.

A key focus of the discussion was the ongoing problem of scammer gangs operating out of Cambodia, which have caused significant financial and personal distress to citizens. South Korean nationals, in particular, have been widely affected, with many falling victim to these fraudulent schemes. Thailand confirmed its full commitment to collaborate with South Korea to jointly manage and suppress these cross-border criminal networks.
