Royal Thai Air Force Wives Association Rebrands as Air Force Spouses Association

Brickinfo News Agency – The Air Force Wives Association (AFWA) has officially changed its name to the Air Force Spouses Association (AFSA), effective July 1, 2025. This renaming reflects a broader recognition of the diverse roles of spouses within the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) and aims to align the association with contemporary social contexts. The initiative to update the association’s regulations was led by Mrs. Montira Pattanakul, the current president.

The former Air Force Wives Association, established in 1985, focused on fostering strong family relationships among RTAF personnel and supporting social welfare, public benefit activities, education, and quality of life initiatives for members and the wider community. For over four decades, it also served to support the RTAF’s missions.

The decision to change the name was driven by the need for the association to adapt to evolving societal norms and acknowledge the multifaceted contributions of all spouses. This includes accommodating the RTAF’s policy of offering advanced training opportunities for female officers, allowing them to hold higher positions within the organization. Consequently, spouses of female officers are now eligible to join the association. The updated regulations and the new name, Air Force Spouses Association (AFSA), have been finalized and are now in effect.

The Air Force Spouses Association (AFSA) will continue to uphold its foundational objectives while adapting its role to modern times. The association plans to focus on meeting the needs of military families in all aspects, promoting public benefit activities, enhancing the knowledge, skills, and quality of life of its members, and supporting the Royal Thai Air Force’s endeavors. This name change represents a significant step for the organization, demonstrating an awareness of changing social dynamics and a move towards an inclusive future that respects the vital role of all spouses in strengthening families and the Royal Thai Air Force.
