Japan Airlines Joins “LOVE PRIDE PARADE BANGKOK 2025”
Brickinfo News Agency – Japan Airlines (JAL), in collaboration with M District and The Mall Group, participated in the “LOVE PRIDE PARADE BANGKOK 2025” to transform Rama 1 Road into what organizers described as Asia’s largest rainbow road for equality. This marks the second consecutive year JAL has supported the event, aligning with their stated commitment to social responsibility and fostering a more inclusive and diverse society.
JAL’s parade contingent featured the theme “Journey on the Rainbow Sky,” with actor Kao Noppakao Dechaphatthanakun joining JAL representatives. The parade float prominently displayed the JAL LGBTQ Ally logo, a symbol created to support LGBTQ+ individuals both within and outside the organization. This logo has been featured in several Pride Parades in Japan that JAL has supported, aiming to promote understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, diversity, equity, and inclusion. The airline has also received the Gold Award from the Pride Index Awards by the volunteer organization “work with Pride” for nine consecutive years.
JAL’s participation in the 5-kilometer parade aimed to reaffirm its commitment to diversity and equality. The airline states it is dedicated to promoting an inclusive environment for its employees and the broader community.
Takafumi Sawada, Vice President and Regional Manager for Thailand at Japan Airlines (JAL), stated, “Japan Airlines is honored to once again be a part of supporting Asia’s largest rainbow road of equality in Thailand, alongside the Thai people. JAL is committed to building an open and inclusive culture where everyone feels safe, accepted, and truly valued. We will continue our full efforts to support and give back to the community.”
Beyond the Pride parade, the JAL Group is involved in other local community initiatives, such as the Doi Tung Development Project (DTDP). This project has rehabilitated former opium-growing areas into coffee plantations, creating new opportunities for local communities in need of development through coffee cultivation in Thailand’s mountainous regions. JAL also collaborates with a local chocolate producer on Kad Kokoa chocolate, made from 100% Thai ingredients. Both Doi Tung coffee and Kad Kokoa chocolate are currently served on JAL flights departing from Bangkok.
The JAL Group’s human rights policy includes fair and unbiased employment and promotion as one of its eleven key principles. In line with this, JAL’s Thailand branch has reviewed and updated its human resources policies to align with evolving national laws concerning same-sex marriage. This includes extending rights and benefits to same-sex partners regarding leave, medical expense reductions, travel privileges, and other benefits. By promoting diversity and supporting equal rights, JAL aims to create a safe and appropriate working environment for all employees, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, gender, age, nationality, race, ethnicity, religion, social status, or disability. This initiative seeks to enable all employees to realize their potential and contribute meaningfully to society within an environment that promotes well-being and equality.
JAL currently employs 400 Thai cabin crew based in Bangkok, who undergo intensive “Omotenashi” (Japanese hospitality) training. JAL operates four daily flights from Bangkok to Japan: two to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport (flights JL32 and JL34), one to Narita Airport (flight JL708), and one to Osaka (flight JL728).
