Thai Government Steps Up Tourist Support and Activates 24-Hour Hotline Amid Heavy Rain Delays
Brickinfo News Agency – The Thai government has instructed all related agencies to mobilize emergency assistance for passengers and travelers affected by severe weather, activating a round-the-clock coordination center and the 1155 tourist police hotline to mitigate travel disruptions nationwide.
Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Perisviwatana announced on September 26, 2026, that Minister of Tourism and Sports Surasak Phanjaroenworakul issued urgent directives ordering relevant bodies to integrate response efforts. The order mandates close coordination across transport and tourism agencies to assist stranded travelers following intense rainfall that disrupted ground transit and flight schedules in multiple regions.
In response to widespread flight cancellations, officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports deployed field teams to Suvarnabhumi Airport to provide on-site aid and logistical support to affected passengers. The ministry aims to streamline passenger flow, address immediate welfare needs, and reduce travel delays caused by adverse weather conditions.
To handle inquiries and coordinate relief, the Tourist Police Bureau and the Tourism Authority of Thailand have established a joint emergency operations center. Affected travelers can reach authorities 24 hours a day through the 1155 Tourist Police hotline and the Tourist Assistance Center, both operating continuously until conditions return to normal.
In addition, tourism authorities have partnered with local hotels, accommodations, and service operators to support passengers facing missed connections or overnight delays. The collaboration assists stranded tourists with emergency room bookings, extended stays, and verified travel updates to help them adjust itineraries safely.
