Deadly shooting at School near Bangkok leaves 6 dead and at least 15 injured

Brickinfo News Agency – A violent shooting occurred at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province, on the morning of August 7, 2026, leaving six people dead and at least 15 others injured. According to official reports from the Nonthaburi Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, the deceased include 5 teachers and the perpetrator. Emergency responders transferred the 15 injured victims to local hospitals, with two individuals reported to be in critical condition.

Authorities received notifications regarding the incident at approximately 10:00 AM and promptly deployed law enforcement personnel to surround the area and neutralize the threat. Officials requested full cooperation from parents and the public to avoid traveling to the surrounding school zone to allow emergency services to operate effectively. Meanwhile, students and faculty members were evacuated to Chanrat Wittaya School, where parents could safely collect their children.

Police officers recovered a 9mm firearm at the scene, which initial investigations indicate belonged to a parent or family member of the suspect. Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, dispatched Pol. Gen. Thatchai Pitaneelaboot, Deputy Commissioner-General, to monitor the situation directly. Additionally, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trirong Phiwpan, Spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, confirmed that the Police General Hospital has deployed a team of psychologists to provide immediate mental health support to those affected by the incident.

In response to the tragedy, Prasert Jantararuangtong, Minister of Education, directed all affiliated agencies to coordinate closely with law enforcement authorities to investigate the incident and handle victim compensation. Speaking during an official visit to Ubon Ratchathani Province before returning to oversee operations directly, the Minister urged the public and media outlets to refrain from sharing sensitive images or unverified information to protect the privacy and mental well-being of the affected families. Concurrently, Julapun Amornvivat, Minister of Labour and Leader of the Pheu Thai Party, expressed condolences and voiced support for enhanced safety measures under the Safe School initiative across educational institutions nationwide.
