Brickinfo News Agency – Filipino singer-songwriter Clara Benin has released her latest EP, really got me thinking, under Sony Music Entertainment. The six-track collection marks a significant shift in her artistic direction, focusing on a more minimalist and intimate soundscape. Unlike her previous works, this release centers entirely on the theme of love from an optimistic perspective, drawing inspiration from the contrasting atmospheric qualities of rainy days to reflect personal growth and emotional refuge.

The EP was produced by Benin in collaboration with The Ringmaster, prioritizing delicate arrangements and intentional restraint. Benin noted that the project allowed her to experiment with silence and simplicity as much as sound. “I’ve learned to sit with simplicity and to trust that not every space needs to be filled, that silence and restraint can carry just as much meaning as sound,” Benin explained. She added that this approach creates an intimate experience, allowing the lyrics and melodies to breathe more effectively for the listener.

A central theme of the record is the duality of love, which Benin describes as both grounding and liberating. This is particularly evident in the focus track, “wings,” which serves as a metaphor for personal development within a relationship. According to Benin, the song is about finding security that enables one to pursue larger ambitions. “It’s about finding someone who makes you feel safe enough to dream bigger, someone who reminds you of who you can become,” she stated, highlighting the song’s focus on the concept of “becoming” and growth.

Throughout the songwriting process, Benin aimed to capture the natural contrasts found in real-life emotions without forcing a resolution. She admitted that some moments in the EP carry tension while others feel grounded, reflecting her belief that love is rarely a singular experience. “I tried to let the songs hold both feelings at once, the same way they exist in real life,” Benin said, noting that this honesty in storytelling was a key part of her evolution as a songwriter.

To support the release, Benin is preparing a live performance designed to mirror the EP’s introspective atmosphere. The show will depart from her usual backing track-heavy setup, instead moving toward live instrumentation including piano, bass, and live backing vocals. Benin emphasized that the goal is to maintain the organic and personal feel of the recordings while providing more warmth and presence in a live setting.
