Siemens and NVIDIA are deepening their collaboration to advance industrial AI and digitalization, integrating NVIDIA's AI and accelerated computing with the Siemens Xcelerator platform to create the factories of the future.

Brickinfo News Agency – Siemens and NVIDIA recently demonstrated a new technology stack, currently under development, aimed at significantly advancing the design and management of digital twins for future factories. Showcased at the NVIDIA GTC (GPU Technology Conference) in Washington, D.C., the technology integrates Siemens Xcelerator and NVIDIA Omniverse to create a unified, immersive environment for 3D visualization, simulation, and factory data. This collaboration marks a key step toward enabling the industrial metaverse, allowing engineers to rapidly design, optimize, and manage highly accurate digital twins, which is crucial as the manufacturing industry undergoes a global transformation driven by investments in advanced technologies.

The advanced digital twin software will form part of a new Siemens tech stack built specifically for the AI era. Its purpose is to empower manufacturers not only to build but also to continuously optimize highly advanced factories by accelerating planning, engineering, and operations. This approach enables large-scale simulation, AI-driven workflows, and data-driven decisions throughout every stage of design and operation. During the GTC demo, Siemens showed how customers could bring together building infrastructure and production lines within a single engineering environment. This includes using AI to simulate hundreds of potential factory layouts to identify the most efficient design in hours, rather than days or weeks, leading to the rendering of photorealistic and physics-based factory models.

This joint effort leverages Siemens’ expertise in manufacturing and industrial technology alongside NVIDIA’s leadership in graphical processing to help customers create smarter, more efficient factories, products, and AI data centers. The collaboration aims to address challenges faced by manufacturers, such as mastering complexity, accelerating production, and improving energy efficiency. For instance, a semiconductor manufacturer can use the tool to quickly simulate different layouts within an existing facility to find the most efficient configuration and accelerate production increases.

Peter Koerte, Member of the Managing Board, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Strategy Officer at Siemens, stated, “Industrial innovation is accelerating at an unprecedented pace. Together Siemens and NVIDIA are leading the way. By combining our strengths in industrial AI, digital twins, automation, and building technologies, we are enabling the industrial metaverse—and with it the next generation of factories and AI data centers – delivering the efficiency, power, scalability, and intelligence needed to meet growing global demand and shape the future of industry.”

Rev Lebaredian, Vice President of Omniverse and Simulation Technology at NVIDIA, emphasized the importance of digital twins: “Digital twins have become essential in the age of industrial AI, enabling the simulation and optimization of entire production lines and training robotics virtually before a single piece of hardware is installed. Our collaboration with Siemens brings NVIDIA Omniverse to the heart of manufacturing, providing the critical platform capabilities to accelerate the entire factory lifecycle, from concept to operation.”

Siemens’ full chip-to-grid infrastructure value chain expertise—spanning manufacturing, intelligent operations, and the building environment—allows the partners to deliver integrated solutions that drive efficiency and scalability. This includes ensuring that power, cooling, compute, and building systems operate as a unified whole, whether for a greenfield facility or a retrofitted existing site. The approach is aligned with the recently announced NVIDIA Omniverse DSX Blueprint for multi-generation, gigawatt-scale AI Factory build-outs. Siemens technology equips partners to bring new AI factories online rapidly, reconfigure operations for GPU upgrades, and optimize power and cooling through advanced simulation, which also helps anticipate threats to uptime and bolster supply chain resilience.
