Brickinfo News Agency – FUJIFILM (Thailand) Ltd. has announced the global release of the FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA 55, a camera designed for filmmaking, with shipments scheduled for October 2025. The new camera marks the company’s entry into the dedicated cinema camera market. The GFX ETERNA 55 features a medium format sensor, paired with the high-speed X-Processor 5 image processing engine, technologies previously seen in the flagship FUJIFILM GFX100 II mirrorless camera. The launch also includes the new FUJINON Lens GF32-90mmT3.5 PZ OIS WR, a power zoom lens for the GF series.

The GFX ETERNA 55 is built around a medium format GFX 102MP CMOS II HS sensor measuring 43.8 x 32.9mm, which is approximately 1.7 times larger than a 35mm sensor. The camera’s name is derived from its 55mm diagonal sensor measurement. This sensor delivers 102 megapixels of resolution and supports five cinema formats: Premista, 35mm, Anamorphic 35mm, Super35, and 4:3 Open Gate, catering to a wide range of video production needs. The camera body is lightweight at 2.0kg and includes a G to PL mount adapter. It also features a built-in electronic variable ND filter and Film Simulation technology. For recording, it supports F-Log2 and F-Log2 C with a dynamic range of 14+ stops and offers three Apple ProRes codecs.

Fujifilm’s history in the film industry dates back to its founding in 1934, with a legacy in motion picture film and cinema zoom lenses like the “Premista” and “ZK Cabrio” series. This expertise was extended to the digital realm with the GFX series in 2017. The development of the GFX ETERNA 55 combines this heritage with modern digital imaging technology. The camera’s workflow is supported by features such as Frame.io Camera to Cloud for file sharing, dual monitoring via 3-inch side screens, and a bright 5-inch external LCD monitor with up to 2000 nits of brightness. The power system allows for hot-swapping batteries, and it has dual card slots for CFExpress Type B and SD cards.

Alongside the camera, Fujifilm is releasing the FUJINON Lens GF32-90mmT3.5 PZ OIS WR. This is the first motorized power zoom lens for the GF series, designed to complement the GFX ETERNA 55. The lens measures 222mm in length and weighs 2.1 kilograms, offering a 32-90mm focal length. It features smooth focus and zoom rings that carry forward the design legacy of the Premista cinema lens series. The company stated that this development is a milestone that builds upon its 90 years of expertise, reinforcing its commitment to high-quality video production.
