Thai Army Claims Viral Video of Border Fence and Thai Flag Removal is ‘Staged’ by Cambodia
Brickinfo News Agency – The Royal Thai Army has officially addressed a viral video showing Cambodian soldiers removing concertina wire and a Thai flag at the border, dismissing the incident as a staged event filmed entirely within Cambodian territory for propaganda purposes.
The video, which circulated widely on social media, appeared to show Cambodian soldiers dismantling a concertina wire fence and removing a Thai national flag at the “Chup Ta Mok Pass,” located approximately one kilometer west of the Ta Muen Thom Temple complex. The footage prompted concerns regarding border security and territorial integrity.
In response, Royal Thai Army Spokesperson Major General Winthai Suvaree clarified the military’s position on the matter today. He stated that the incident shown in the video was a fabrication orchestrated by Cambodian soldiers. “The events depicted in the clip occurred entirely within Cambodian territory and were staged by Cambodian soldiers,” Major General Winthai explained, adding that the purpose was “to create an image for their own people that they could remove the concertina wire.”
The spokesperson gave assurances that the actual concertina wire fences installed by the Royal Thai Army along the border remain completely intact and have not been breached or damaged. He affirmed that the army will continue to maintain strict surveillance and uphold security along the border to protect the nation’s sovereignty. Major General Winthai also urged the public to be cautious of potentially distorted information and to seek updates from official army channels to prevent confusion.
