Brickinfo News Agency – True Corporation, a prominent telecom-tech company in Thailand, has partnered with TrueMoney, a leading digital financial platform in Southeast Asia, to host the “True CyberSafe x TrueMoney Hackathon Thailand 2025.” This initiative, themed ‘Hack for a Safer Digital Life,’ aims to foster the development of innovative solutions to address growing cyber threats and enhance digital safety in Thailand. The hackathon is supported by key cybersecurity organizations, including the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA), the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), Huawei Technologies (Thailand), and the Sasin School of Management at Chulalongkorn University. Startups, students, and the general public are invited to participate, contributing to the nascent but growing Crime Tech market.

The initiative comes at a time when cybercrime is causing significant financial losses in Thailand. According to the Online Crime Reporting Center of the Royal Thai Police, the top three online scams over the past three years involve investment fraud via digital platforms, job-related money transfer scams, and call center scams. True CyberSafe’s data further illustrates the scale of the problem, detecting over 7 million suspicious links daily and protecting more than 50 million users. Despite this surge in threats, Thailand currently has fewer than 10 cybersecurity startups, indicating a substantial market opportunity. Gartner, Inc., forecasts that end-user spending on information security in Thailand will reach 18.4 billion baht in 2025, marking a 12.3% increase from the previous year. This projection underscores the potential for Thai startups to innovate and capitalize on this demand.

Mr. Ekaraj Panjavinin, Chief Digital Officer and (Acting) Chief Business Officer, True Corporation Plc., stated, “True Corporation is committed to leveraging its robust digital infrastructure and integrated ecosystem to enhance the quality of life in society, promote equitable access to technology, and empower people to make the most of it. At the same time, we are dedicated to advancing a safer digital society. Cyber threats are becoming increasingly severe and widespread, causing damage to both individuals and businesses. In response, True has developed various innovations to enhance customer safety, such as the intelligent cybersecurity system ‘True CyberSafe’, which helps protect users online. However, we believe this urgent issue requires collaboration from all sectors. That’s why True has launched the “True CyberSafe x TrueMoney Hackathon Thailand 2025” in partnership with both public and private organizations. This initiative provides a platform for startups, young innovators, and the public to present creative ideas and develop them into real-world innovations that benefit society, addressing cyber threats, reducing losses, and helping everyone live more safely in the digital age.”

Ms. Monsinee Nakapanant, Co-President of Ascend Money, which operates TrueMoney, emphasized the importance of digital financial security. She noted, “Today, digital financial apps have become an integral part of everyday life. They are used for money transfers, online purchases, and various services. At the same time, the risks associated with cyber threats are rising and becoming increasingly complex. Without a strong protection system, user trust and the broader digital economy could be severely impacted.” Ms. Nakapanant detailed TrueMoney’s “TrueMoney 3X Protection” in-app system, which utilizes AI to detect and prevent fraudulent behavior. She added, “Moreover, we believe that tackling today’s complex cybersecurity threats requires collective innovation and cooperation. That’s why we see the ‘True CyberSafe x TrueMoney Hackathon Thailand 2025’ as a vital opportunity for young talent to develop solutions that are not only functional but also secure, user-friendly, and trustworthy, which will strengthen Thailand’s digital economy in a safe and sustainable way.”
