True Corporation Deploys Mobile Cell Unit to Aid Mae Hong Son Flood Recovery
Brickinfo News Agency – True Corporation has deployed a Cell-on-Wheel (COW) unit to Mae Hong Son Province to bolster communication networks following severe flooding. The mobile unit, dispatched to Ban Pha Bong, aims to ensure reliable mobile signals for residents and support government agencies, military, and volunteers involved in flood relief and recovery efforts. The move comes as the company maintains 24-hour network monitoring due to warnings from the Thai Meteorological Department about Typhoon Nongfa, which is expected to bring additional rainfall to Northern Thailand.
Ban Pha Bong and surrounding areas recently experienced flash floods caused by Typhoon Kajiki, resulting in significant damage to homes and vehicles. While floodwaters have receded, the accumulation of debris, soil, and mud has continued to obstruct roads, affecting transportation and daily life for local communities.
Recognizing the critical need for communication during the crisis, True Corporation sent the COW unit and network engineers to the area. The teams are also inspecting base stations and installing backup power generators to ensure uninterrupted service in case of power disruptions caused by heavy rain. This infrastructure support is intended to facilitate the work of government officials, military personnel, and local administrative organizations as they assist residents, repair damaged homes, and clear debris.
In response to the ongoing natural disaster warnings, True Corporation has activated a dedicated War Room at its Business and Network Intelligence Center (BNIC). This center uses AI systems to continuously monitor and manage the nationwide network. The company is coordinating with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) to provide ongoing support for relief operations.
