Brickinfo News Agency – The Pathum Wan District Court has handed down a sentence against two prominent Thai esports figures involved in a hacking scandal during the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.”Tokyogurl” , a former national team player, and “Cheerio,” a well-known gamer, were found guilty of unauthorized access to protected computer systems and data during the regional multi-sport event hosted by Thailand. The court’s decision marks a significant legal precedent for esports integrity and cybercrime within the Thai sporting landscape.

The incident took place on December 15, 2025, at Sala Phra Kieo, Chulalongkorn University, while the SEA Games competition was underway. The defendants conspired to bypass computer system security measures to gain an unfair advantage in the tournament. This breach not only compromised the fairness of the competition but also caused substantial damage to other participants and the overall reputation of the international esports community.

In its ruling delivered on March 17, 2026, the court initially sentenced both individuals to six months in prison without suspension. The presiding judge emphasized that their actions severely undermined the credibility of the esports athlete selection process and brought disrepute to Thailand as the host nation of an international sporting event. The court viewed the nature of the crime as a serious violation of sportsmanship and digital law.

However, because both defendants provided a full confession, the court exercised its discretion to reduce the sentence by half to three months. Furthermore, the court ordered the imprisonment sentence to be converted into detention for a period of three months. Following the verdict, reports indicate that the defendants have been granted bail as they proceed with the next steps of the legal process.
