Brickinfo News Agency – The Royal Thai Army has refuted claims made by Cambodia that Thai forces used artillery fire that damaged Preah Vihear Temple. On July 25, 2025, Major General Winthai Suvaree, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Army, stated at the Army Headquarters that Cambodian authorities had sent a letter to UNESCO, alleging that Thai military operations, supported by artillery, caused damage to the ancient temple.

The Royal Thai Army clarified that their military operations are specifically aimed at retaliating against Cambodian military forces, not at civilian areas or locations unrelated to military activities. They emphasized that Preah Vihear Temple is not within the trajectory of Thai weapons fire. Therefore, the Royal Thai Army considers Cambodia’s accusation that the temple was damaged by Thai attacks to be a clear distortion of facts.

This statement aligns with the Royal Thai Army’s observation of ongoing efforts by Cambodia to disseminate information that does not correspond with the facts on multiple issues. The Royal Thai Army reaffirmed its commitment to operating cautiously under humanitarian principles and international law to protect Thailand’s sovereignty and national security, ensuring no impact on individuals or property not involved in military conflicts.
