Brickinfo News Agency – CHANGAN Automobile has marked its third year of commercial presence in Thailand, confirming cumulative sales of more than 35,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) and reaffirming the country's strategic role as its Southeast Asian headquarters and primary overseas manufacturing and export facility.

The automaker's annual sales in Thailand rose from approximately 5,000 units in 2024 to 14,000 units in 2025, with an official target set at 30,000 units for 2026. The company’s CHANGAN Automobile Rayong Factory, built with an investment exceeding THB 10 billion and operational since May 2025, serves as CHANGAN’s first vehicle manufacturing facility outside China. The site handles body welding, painting, final assembly, and battery-pack manufacturing, currently producing models including the DEEPAL S05 and NEVO Q05. The company projects exports of 6,000 Thai-assembled vehicles to 18 right-hand-drive international markets within 2026.

Mr. Ricky Wu (Wu Xiaokang), Vice President and Customer Officer of CHANGAN Auto Southeast Asia, outlined the company’s operating milestones:

"Over the past three years, we have moved forward step by step, building a strong foundation for the future. In our first year, we introduced our brands to Thailand. Thai consumers got to know CHANGAN, DEEPAL, and AVATR. In our second year, our overseas new-energy vehicle plant began operations. New models rolled off the production line and entered the Thai market. In our third year, we continued to turn our promises into action. Looking back on our three years in Thailand, I would sum up our journey in one sentence: time will tell."

Over the three-year period, CHANGAN introduced nine NEV models across its CHANGAN (encompassing DEEPAL, NEVO, and LUMIN) and AVATR brands. The company's Thai supply network has grown from over 300 to 413 local suppliers. In after-sales operations, the company partnered with NING SERVICE by CATL to establish the CHANGAN Battery and E-Drive Service Center via an investment exceeding THB 30 million, supporting battery module repairs and technical servicing across Southeast Asia.

CHANGAN currently employs 2,143 people in Thailand—with Thai nationals accounting for over 90% of the workforce—and plans to expand its local headcount to more than 3,000 by 2030. The company's strategic roadmap for the next three years includes introducing 12 new vehicle models, expanding its service network to more than 150 locations nationwide, and supporting Thailand’s 30@2030 national EV policy alongside the group's global Vast Ocean Plan 2.0, which targets 1.5 million overseas vehicle sales by 2030.
