Brickinfo News Agency – The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), through the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO), has partnered with AIS Academy and IRIS Consulting to launch the Thailand AI Readiness Index (TARI). The initiative marks the country’s first national framework designed to help local businesses assess their AI adoption capabilities and plan effective digital transformations to boost global competitiveness.

Minister of MHESI Yodchanan Wongsawat stated that AI serves as a critical mechanism for long-term national competitiveness across the economy, industry, and workforce. He noted that the TARI initiative plays an important role in establishing a systematic understanding of AI readiness among Thai organizations, providing a critical foundation for the government to design targeted policies and support programs while enabling sustainable business transitions.

Kantima Lerlertyuttitham, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Corporate Officer at AIS, emphasized that Thailand’s transition toward an AI economy requires preparing people, organizations, and the nation to enhance productivity. She explained that many enterprises face uncertainty regarding their readiness and implementation strategies, adding that TARI will serve as a common tool to identify gaps and guide effective AI adoption based on organizational culture, data, and skills rather than technology investment alone.

Highlighting policy challenges, NXPO President Surachai Sathitkunarat pointed out that fragmented data has previously hindered a systematic overview of AI readiness across industries. He stated that NXPO will utilize aggregated insights from the AI assessment framework to analyze and design industry-specific support measures, ensuring strict data governance to maintain trust among participating entities.

IRIS Consulting Chairman Boriwat Pinpradab added that the tool helps organizations determine investment priorities, whether in human resources, data capabilities, or workflow redesign. The framework evaluates readiness across eight dimensions, including AI strategy and leadership, data management, technology infrastructure, human skills, governance, business value creation, organizational culture, and realized impact. These dimensions operate through three progressive stages consisting of measuring current readiness, benchmarking against industry peers, and activating practical action plans.

More than 40 pioneer organizations have already expressed interest in developing the index. The project plans to expand its scope to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and supply chain networks, aiming to assess at least 5,000 organizations within the first year and over 20,000 in the subsequent phase.
