Brickinfo News Agency – Thailand has officially entered a new era of digital finance as CLICX becomes the first entity to be granted a Virtual Bank license by the Bank of Thailand. A strategic joint venture between Krungthai Bank (KTB), Advanced Info Service (AIS), and PTT Oil and Retail Business (OR), the platform aims to bridge the gap in financial accessibility for unserved and underserved populations. By leveraging Alternative Data and Artificial Intelligence, CLICX plans to provide branchless banking services tailored to modern lifestyles, with an official service launch scheduled for June 2026.

The granting of the license on May 14, 2026, follows a rigorous evaluation of the consortium’s readiness in cybersecurity, technology infrastructure, and service standards. Unlike traditional banks, CLICX will operate entirely digitally, utilizing the “Bank in One CLICX” concept to integrate financial services into the daily routines of consumers. The partnership combines KTB’s financial expertise, AIS’s digital connectivity, and OR’s extensive physical ecosystem to create an embedded banking experience that removes the need for physical paperwork or branch visits.

A primary mission for CLICX is to drive Financial Inclusion by targeting groups often overlooked by traditional institutions, such as freelancers, daily wage workers, riders, and small entrepreneurs. By utilizing behavioral analytics and alternative data—including communication patterns and mobility—the bank intends to develop a more accurate credit assessment model. This approach allows the bank to evaluate repayment capabilities for individuals without formal income documents, potentially reducing the prevalence of informal debt in the country.

The consortium emphasized that the platform is designed to be more than a simple banking app, stating that CLICX represents a “Beyond Banking platform” that seamlessly integrates into consumer lives. The initiative aligns with the Bank of Thailand’s Open Data policy, empowering consumers to use their own data rights to access better funding opportunities. Furthermore, the bank will apply Behavioral Finance principles to encourage savings habits and long-term financial stability among its users.

“CLICX believes that the bank of the future should not be confined to physical locations or traditional service formats. Instead, it should be accessible anywhere, understand real-life needs, and make financial matters simpler for everyone,” the company stated regarding its vision for a branchless bank created by Thai organizations for the Thai people. This movement also supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically focusing on reducing inequality and fostering innovation within the national economy.
