AIS Partners with MakeMyTrip to Offer Free Tourist SIMs to Indian Visitors in Thailand
Brickinfo News Agency – AIS 5G has announced a strategic partnership with MakeMyTrip, a major Indian online travel agency, to launch a new campaign aimed at facilitating connectivity for travelers visiting Thailand. Under this collaboration, Indian tourists booking accommodations through the MakeMyTrip platform will be eligible to receive a free AIS TOURIST SIM, ensuring immediate access to digital services upon their arrival. The initiative is part of a broader effort to support Thailand’s tourism industry by streamlining the travel experience for one of the region’s key visitor markets.
The campaign, which runs from now until December 31, 2025, integrates travel bookings with essential communication infrastructure. Travelers who book hotels via the MakeMyTrip website or application will receive a voucher that can be redeemed for the SIM card at AIS counters located within Suvarnabhumi Airport. This allows visitors to connect to the AIS 5G network immediately after landing, removing the friction often associated with sourcing local connectivity.
Upon redemption, the SIM card enables users to access a specific 7-day internet package. This includes 5G/4G data access and usage of WhatsApp, alongside unlimited connectivity to AIS SUPER WiFi spots. To further cater to the specific needs of Indian travelers, the package includes a bonus of THB 30 for domestic and international calls, as well as an additional 30 minutes of talk time specifically for calls back to India. This structure is designed to keep tourists connected for navigation, social media, and communication with home throughout their trip.
Benjaporn Kamphet, Head of Special Segment and Prepaid Section at AIS, emphasized the importance of the Indian market to the local tourism sector. She stated that the collaboration reinforces AIS’s readiness to meet the needs of Indian tourists, characterizing them as one of the most high-potential markets in Asia. Kamphet noted that by combining AIS’s nationwide communications technology with MakeMyTrip’s travel services, the partnership aims to offer a “truly seamless experience,” supporting the image of Thai tourism as a destination that is connected anytime, anywhere.
