True Corporation upgrades 5G at Udon Thani’s Red Lotus Sea, boosting speeds by 9x to support tourists following the TAT campaign featuring Lisa Manobal.

Brickinfo News Agency – True Corporation has significantly upgraded its 5G network performance at the Red Lotus Sea in Udon Thani to accommodate a sharp rise in tourist traffic following a major national tourism campaign. Data shows that 5G traffic in the area surged by approximately 40% after the upgrade, driven by both domestic travelers and international visitors, particularly from China, who now rank as the top foreign demographic at the site. The infrastructure boost aims to support high-bandwidth activities such as live streaming and high-resolution video sharing during the peak blooming season from December to February.

The network enhancement focuses on the 2600 MHz band, covering all primary access points including Ban Diam Pier, Ban Chaelae Pier, Ban Don Khong Pier, and Ban Chiang Wae Pier. This technical expansion follows the “Feel All the Feelings” campaign by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), which featured global icon Lalisa “Lisa” Manobal as the official ambassador. The campaign successfully positioned the Red Lotus Sea as a premier destination, leading to a 30% increase in mobile internet usage among international tourists.

Network performance tests conducted between January 31 and February 1, 2026, revealed that True’s 5G speeds increased by more than nine times in specific high-traffic locations. At the most popular photo check-in spot, speeds improved by 9.5x, while Ban Diam Pier saw a 4x increase and Ban Chaelae Pier recorded a 5.6x jump. Even Don Luang Islet, a central filming location for local dramas, experienced a speed boost of over five times, ensuring seamless connectivity for visitors moving across the lake.

Mr. Khurrum Ashfaque, Chief Network Officer of True Corporation Public Company Limited, stated, “We have enhanced 5G coverage on the 2600 MHz band across all key areas of Red Lotus Sea, including Ban Diam Pier, Ban Chaelae Pier, Ban Don Khong Pier and Ban Chiang Wae Pier. The upgrade strengthens both coverage and 5G speed to support high demand during the tourism peak season among Thai and foreign visitors. The enhanced coverage also extends to major photo check-in highlights and locations featured in TAT’s campaign.”

The company noted that the upgrade is a direct response to modern “digital travel” behaviors, where tourists rely on real-time navigation, video calling, and instant content uploads. By optimizing a mix of low, mid, and high-band frequencies, the provider aims to maintain consistent signal quality across regional provinces and emerging tourism hubs, contributing to the broader growth of Thailand’s digital economy.
