Thailand’s True Corporation Positioned to Lead National AI Transition and Governance
Brickinfo News Agency – True Corporation has declared artificial intelligence as the primary engine for Thailand’s future economic growth during the “AI Revolution SHIFT 2026” seminar in Bangkok. Moving beyond traditional telecommunications, the company is transitioning into an AI-First Telco-Tech organization, focusing on large-scale AI adoption paired with a rigorous Responsible AI governance framework to ensure sustainable digital transformation across the country.
True Corporation is centering its strategy on two operational pillars: AI-Powered Operations and AI as a Growth Engine. The first pillar utilizes AI to automate repetitive tasks and manage autonomous network operations, specifically through a system called “Genie.” This technology allows for predictive maintenance and self-healing networks, reducing problem resolution times from hours to minutes. The second pillar focuses on commercial growth by leveraging hyper-personalization via “MARI,” a virtual agent designed to analyze real-time customer behavior to provide tailored services and instant support.
João Pedro Azevedo Oliveira, Chief Data and AI Officer at True Corporation, emphasized the necessity of this shift for the Thai economy. “The world is entering a new era where AI is no longer an optional technology but a core driver of economic growth, productivity, and global competitiveness, comparable to the impact of electricity and the internet,” Oliveira stated. He further noted that for Thailand, the priority is not merely adoption, but how quickly AI technology can be scaled across all societal sectors.
To manage the ethical implications of this rapid integration, the company has established an AI Council consisting of experts in technology, legal compliance, and risk management. This council oversees a Responsible AI Governance framework that covers the entire lifecycle of AI development. The framework is built on principles of privacy by design, fairness, and transparency, ensuring that all AI-driven services meet both national and international regulatory standards.
Oliveira highlighted that True is among the first in Southeast Asia to implement such a comprehensive policy. “Responsible AI is not optional, but the foundation for sustainable growth,” he added, noting that the company’s competitive advantage lies in its human capital. True is currently upskilling its workforce to ensure employees can effectively apply AI in their daily operations, aiming to foster a workforce that can thrive in an increasingly automated economy.
